The Essential Kitchen: Counter

Having healthy fruits visible in the kitchen will encourage eating them!  It’s best to store fresh fruit in a basket or wire container so that air can circulate.  After they are cut or get too ripe, transfer them to the refrigerator.

  • Bananas
  • Apples
  • Pears
  • Avocados
  • Citrus
  • Peaches, plums, apricots, cherries, mangoes, other stone fruit
  • Melons until cut
  • Tomatoes (in season)
  • Whatever looks great at the market in season!
