Paradise of God

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.” (Revelation 2:7)

“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down in the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the son, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.(Revelation 22:1–6)

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.(1 Corinthians 2:9)

God says in Isaiah 55:8 that His thoughts are not our thoughts, nor are our ways His ways. Just as we cannot imagine the beauty that was Eden, we cannot imagine the beauty that heaven will be. The kingdom of God, the new Jerusalem, heaven – it will be a return to the paradise of God. The day that all of creation has been longing for will be here – when we are once again with God. In Isaiah 25 and 26, a word portrait of that day is painted: In that day on Mount Zion the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all the peoples, a banquet of the best meats and the finest wines. In that day, this song will be sung:

“On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine—the best of meats and the finest of wines.” (Isaiah 25:6)

“We have a strong city; God makes salvation its walls and ramparts. Open the gates that the righteous may enter, the nation that keeps faith. You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal.” (Isaiah 26:1–4)
