All creatures of my God and King, lift up your voice and with us sing.
–Francis of Assisi, “All Creatures of Our God and King”
Enjoy His creation now. Don’t wait until tomorrow. Have your quiet time on your porch. Listen to the birds. Sing with them in praise to our Creator. Relax in the hammock. Walk in the sunshine. Play in the park with your children or grandchildren. Hold hands under the shade tree. Take a homebound friend to a rose garden. Grow roses or strawberries. Take a nap in the hammock. Watch the sunset, arm in arm with your honey. Pick strawberries. Take a homebound friend to a rose garden. Grow roses or strawberries yourself. Love your neighbor; take him to the roses and strawberries that you grow. Tell him about the God who loved us enough to send His Son, Jesus Christ, so that man and creation would be restored to rightful fellowship with Him. All of this takes time – time for the Creator and His creation.
Knowing and loving God
The indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in the heart of the Christian restores God’s relationship with man to that which was intended in the beginning. As His sons and His representatives on earth, we should care as He would not only for earthly bodies, where He dwells, but for the rest of mankind and for His world. As we seek to nourish our bodies and souls as He intended and provided for, let us also seek to guard, care for, and tend nature. This should be a part of our knowing and understanding and loving God.
Be faithful to do his will until Christ returns and takes us to reign and worship and fellowship forever and ever with Him in paradise – because we were made for paradise.
